24 Sep What Should You Wear to The Pouching?
What are the colors of the pouch? A light mauve. A smoky chipotle. A creamy cashew.
Look, we’re not gonna get all… sumptuary… on the dress code for The Pouching. We care about the comfort of our wedding guests, and you should wear whatever illuminates your best self.
For instance, Wayne dresses according to style and status. Joyce dresses according to emotion, with no consistent aesthetic (But wait, you cry — “Joyce always wears pastels and flouncy skirts around me!” Or, “Joyce always wears yeasty leotards around me!” Well, it’s a reflection of how you make her feel. Think about that).
We like to slot our most preferred looks in three levels, Digimon-style: Rookie, Champion and Ultimate. Let’s begin the show!
Here, Joyce starts off as a Rookie Brooklyn Brewery Sadcore, with crop top, $7.99 F21 shorts, fringe boots and flower crown. She then digivolves to a Champion Pearl of Asian Womanhood, with jewel-tone retro-inflected cap sleeve dress, wedge sandals and calla lily. Her final form is Ultimate Drag Queen, with double-faced (like her personality) silk satin gown in fuchsia, double-spiked heels and #doublewig.
Here, Wayne starts off as a Rookie Children’s Anime Character, with a yellow Zara sweatshirt, jorts, blue pleather sneakers, a pure heart, sword and goggles for his Quest. He then digivolves to a Champion Hamptons M&M, with mint green sheer cashmere top, an even more pronounced tan, upcycled Zara shorts, dingy Adidas kicks and his trusted steed, Meimei. His final form is Ultimate British Rock Star, with black “three kinds of lamb” boatneck sweater in wool/leather, True Religion shiny black jeans, Dsquared2 high-tops and the sparkles that naturally radiate from his hair when he is feeling his fantasy.
So, going back to the header question: What should you wear to The Pouching? Whatever fuels your fantasy. You do you, boo(face).
